Holiday Is for the Dogs at the Bay Colony Dog Show in Boston, December 8-11, 2005
BOSTON, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the country's largest AKC dog shows is back in Boston for four days of tail-wagging holiday fun for dog lovers, giving you another reason to explore Boston. A series of four prestigious shows, the Bay Colony Dog Show is held December 8-11 at the Bayside Exposition Center (200 Mt. Vernon Street, Boston). Sponsored by PEDIGREE brand dog foods, the show features 100 booths for holiday shopping and over 3,000 pedigree pooches competing daily for "Best In Show".
Meet over 160 AKC dog breeds, including newly-recognized American Kennel Club (AKC) breeds such as Black Russian Terriers, Glen of Imaal Terriers, German Pinschers and Neapolitan Mastiffs. Every day offers a unique mix of competitions, demonstrations, and special events, and the show is presented by four prestigious Boston-area AKC dog clubs: Eastern Dog Club, Ladies Dog Club, and Middlesex County Kennel Club and Concord Dog Training Club. Agility trials, timed competitive events where dogs race their way through obstacles competing for AKC titles, are conducted all four days by the Yankee Golden Retriever Club.
Sweet on a Saluki but can't find an ornament with his unique long face? Dog lovers are in holiday shopping heaven with 100 booths displaying every type of "doggy bling-bling" gift imaginable. Pampered pooches and their owners will enjoy hand-knitted sweaters, specialty t-shirts and hats, grooming supplies, exercise equipment, digital photography, gourmet treats, handmade toys, safety products, bedding, and even custom clay pottery, fine jewelry and dog antiques, and much more.
On Saturday and Sunday from 11:30a-1:30p, the show offers family-oriented dog demonstrations including popular "meet the breed" workshops, search and rescue drills, and a canine freestyle demonstrations.
Also on hand are experts on getting started in dog shows, breeder referrals, volunteering, careers, and breed adoption programs. Educational exhibits include the American Kennel Club, Pedigree's Select-A-Dog computer, Mass. Federation of Dog Clubs & Responsible Dog Owners, 4-H Clubs, and many more rescue, therapy, visitation, assistance dog groups, and breed rescue clubs from throughout New England.
