Dallas Singles Learn New Dating Trend From Dogs

Bark in the Park Play Date on April 30 at White Rock Lake Park

DALLAS, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- According to recent scientific studies, walking a dog increases a person's chances of meeting other people. One independent, national survey concluded that nearly 60 percent of people met others through their pets. Michael Web, author and romantic columnist says, "It's the greatest trick in the book. Using a dog to meet people is becoming more common."

Eight at Eight, the Dallas dinner club for singles, has recognized this new trend and today announced its annual Bark in the Park singles event. Back by popular demand, the doggy play date will take place at 1:30 pm on Saturday, April 30, at White Rock Lake Park. Open to the public, pet owners can give their dogs a romp in the park while meeting new friends and romantic dates.

"Dogs act as social ice breakers and help people strike up friendly conversation with each other," says Eight at Eight Membership Director Heather Robertson. "Sometimes, it is difficult to strike up conversations with complete strangers, but being with a dog gives a safe, non-threatening, neutral topic to start some dialogue. I also serve as the hostess and facilitate introductions amongst the dog lovers."

Participants will also take part in the Canine Olympics with obstacle courses and Frisbee-tossing contests. Singles who do not own a dog are encouraged to attend and find a pet to share. Price for Eight at Eight members is $15 and $30 for non-members. Price includes water, soda and beer. To register, visit http://www.8at8.com/dallas or call 214-887-8811. Advance sign-up is required and the registration deadline is noon on Wednesday, April 27.
